Running a fuel filter BACKWARDS?

Does anyone know what ill effects running a fuel filter backwards has?

I'm running a 3/8'' hardline from the tank to the pump, and I bought a filter that has the flare on one cease and a hose fitting on the other, merely when I install it the way I need information technology to go, it's backwards from the intended menses direction.

If information technology's similar nigh then you can merely install it ane fashion. If backwards it would not menses as well and may cause you pump to a higher force per unit area to come across the needs.

In one word change it...I hateful ii words

Hrmm... well, I may merely monitor the line pressure and run into how information technology does. The filter is very loftier-flow with 3/8'' ports on both sides, so I retrieve this 1 would probably flow twice equally much backwards equally the stock i would with its tiny little banjo fitting.

I would opposite it, merely it'south not a affair of simply "switching it around." If information technology were that piece of cake, I'd accept done information technology in a heartbeat. The event is that there I ran a hardline (steel) from the fuel pump all the way to the engine, which was a HUGE pain in my ass. At present, the fuel filter has a flare plumbing equipment that will adjust to the hardline, merely information technology's on the end that is supposed to be at the rear of the flow, not the front end. In addition, I'm out of room in the engine bay to run a soft line from the difficult line to the filter.

Eventually, I'm going to alter information technology, just for now I only want to become my car running. :/

look at it this manner....if y'all accept the time to prepare it you lot may salve your fuel pump from pumping and so hard to get the pressure you need. Or it doesn't flow enough fuel and you run lean and spend money on a rebuild, that would have costed...the filter installed the right manner. Your gas milage may even suffer. They are designed to menses ane way and 1 way but.

Simply a few ideas to think about..theres more that could happen.

What, no way, companies pattern things a sure way for a reason? Are you certain? I thought you lot could just buy something and put it in equally long as it fit. Weird.
